Ferrari

The story of Ferrari is that of pure dedication, unparalleled determination and continuous improvement that has consistently led to the manufacture of outstanding vehicles for decades. Ferrari was founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1947 and the company has grown to be not just a renowned manufacturer of very beautiful and very fast cars, but also a major partaker in most of the professional racing events.

Ferrari became well enamored with driving and car engineering knowledge when he was still a youth, a period which he also attained substantial race car driving experience following the jobs he held in different companies. Due to all these earlier interactions with race car and driving, Ferrari set his mind in developing the red-flagged road master. Initially, Ferrari had worked as the head of the Alfa Romeo racing department during the late 1930s.

Enzo Ferrari established Scuderia while still working at Alfa Romeo, but had to cut ties with them after two years upon learning that the company had intentions of taking over his newly formed company. But since he was still bound with the terms of the racing contract, he was not able to do much, other than supply tools and accessories to other manufacturers such as RIV and Piaggio. In 1943, Ferrari then moved to Maranello, where he designed and built the Tipo 815. This was the first ever Ferrari to be built, and not the 125 Sport as most people believe.

However, it was the 125 Sport became more popular than the original version. This can be attributed to the 1.5L V12 engine it had which set the standards for the latter models in the racing dynasty. However, its rise to the ranks it holds at the moment was no easy walk in the park. Several tensions between Ferraris’ wife and Romolo Tavoni, Scuderia manager, made a lot of employees to lose their jobs, including some of the top engineers as well as Romolo.

Due to the mass exit of the employees, Ferrari was left paralyzed and in no good shape to compete with Jaguar, which was just about to release the E-Type. This slowed the company’s growth and help later came from one of the fired engineers who brought in a few other guys so that they could complete the work they were doing on the GTO model. The GTO model was thus finished successfully and its design later earned the company lots of wins during the Sebring race.

The company would register more growth under the Midas touch of Forghieri’s engineering capabilities. A model such as Dino was an instant classic hit and ended up recorded lots of sales. With the steady cash flow, the company was able to get more involved in research and the development of new engines, which culminated into the release of the 250P.
